Forrest came to Vesper Point in 2022 after having served Chattanooga Christian School for 20 years as a math teacher, baseball coach, and as High School Principal. Before his time at CCS, Forrest taught high school math at John Carrol Catholic High School in Birmingham, AL. Besides serving as Director at Vesper Point, Forrest currently teaches Pre-calculus at Veritas Classical School in Chattanooga, TN during the school year.

Before his college days, Forrest was a camper at Vesper Point from 1991-1992 and it was here that he fell in love with the concept of Christian camping. Forrest worked at Vesper Point from 1995-2007 serving in various roles and only stopped working at camp due to meeting his wife Alex during the summer of 2007. Alex and Forrest were married in 2008 and missed camp a great deal in the years that followed.

Forrest is passionate about Vesper Point being a place where campers and staff members experience the real and dynamic camping program and ministry. This is accomplished through intentional relationships between campers and their counselors and through staff discipleship. Through intentional training, a priority is placed on a “decentralized” approach where counselors and staff are equipped to lead and minister to campers. Forrest also believes strongly in the “challenge by choice” philosophy where campers are exposed to a wide variety of skills and activities where they are stretched to grow and learn within their comfort level.

Forrest and Alex have three kids: Leighton (12), Ellison (9), and Forrest (7). The entire Walker family loves being at camp and considers it a family calling. The Walkers attend First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga.

Sarah Estler
Registrar / Administrative Assistant

Email: cvp@vesperpoint.org
Camp Phone: 423.332.1849
Church Phone: 423.648.7936

Sarah joined the Vesper Point team in 2019. She grew up in Grayson, GA and attended Toccoa Falls College. She and her husband Sean have 2 dogs: Scout & Ranger. In her spare time, Sarah can usually be found spending time with friends and family, playing games, baking, hiking, or teaching Scout & Ranger new tricks. Her favorite thing about camp is that it takes campers and staff out of their daily environments, allowing them to grow in their relationships with Christ and make new friends.

Brian “BC” Cavanaugh
Facilities Director

Brian "BC" Cavanaugh grew up in Mount Juliet, TN. He moved to Chattanooga in 1998 and has called it home ever since. His passion for camping ministry began as a member of the work crew at Vesper Point in the summer of 2000. His favorite things about camp are working outdoors, leading staff on work projects, and seeing the campers enjoy themselves. When not working at camp he will take his dog, Chief, and visit family and friends.

Chief
Camp Dog

Chief has been at CVP as our Camp Dog since 2019. This is a very important position that he takes very seriously! Some of his favorite things about his position include: spending time with campers in the summer, finding the best sticks to chew on, and riding around in BC’s truck to make sure everything is running smoothly. The most important part of his position is groundhog chaser. When not working at camp, he takes weekend trips to visit family and friends.
