Opening & Closing Days

Monday Opening Day

Drop off your camper between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. (Contact the camp office if you need to arrive later.)

Make sure your camper arrives with their bathing suit on under their clothes and a towel in hand. They will be taking their swim test before heading to their cabins to unpack.

Say your goodbyes before dropping off your camper. Once they leave your vehicle, you will not see them again until Closing Day. After dropping off your camper, you will park your car and check your camper in at the Camp Office. The Camp Store will be open at this time.

Saturday Closing Day

Pick up your camper between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. Drive in, locate your camper, meet counselors, pick up luggage and head home when you are ready. The Camp Store will be open at this time.

Cabin Buddy Request Policy

It is our policy to do our best to honor MUTUAL requests from two campers wanting to room together if they are close in age and grade.

  • Buddy requests must be mutual and between 2 campers only.

  • Campers who are 2 grades apart will not be able to be in a cabin together.

  • Please do not attempt to create a chain of buddy requests. These will not be honored.

  • All cabin placements are revealed on Opening Day.

  • No cabin changes can be made on Opening Day.

We know it might be difficult to not have a large group of friends together in one cabin. However, camp is a great place to get to know new friends! It can also be very isolating for other campers in the cabin who are not in a pre-existing friend group. If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We take our buddy requests very seriously as we know this can have a big impact on a camper’s experience!

Clinics (Afternoon Activity)

Clinics are skill based classes. Campers sign up to take one clinic each summer. Our goal and philosophy with clinics is to introduce and teach campers a specific skill set in each clinic class which will increase their knowledge base and confidence. Clinics are taught by our counseling staff and meet daily. While each clinic is intended to be fun and enjoyable, we want to be intentional with teaching skills during these classes. We feel that it is important for a camper to leave camp being able to say, “I learned how to shoot a bow and arrow or how to fish at camp and I have the knowledge and skills now to do this outside of camp if I choose to.”

Outside of clinics, each camper will enjoy the following during their week of camp:
1. Two “BOAT” camps during the week where their entire cabin will go out on ski boats to tube and/or ride the banana boat for an hour.
2. Free time each day at the waterfront to swim, blob, ride on the rocket jr., jump on our new aqua trampoline, and canoe and kayak.
3. Daily cabin activity where each cabin signs up for a specific and desired activity that they do together as a cabin.

Clinic Descriptions

  • Arts & Crafts - Campers will enjoy working on various arts and crafts projects throughout the week to create artifacts and keepsakes that they can bring home. This is a “hands-on” clinic which will allow campers to develop creativity and learn basic arts and crafts skills. All arts and crafts materials will be provided.

  • Bouldering Gym (rock climbing) - Campers will enjoy a week in our enclosed bouldering gym learning the basics of climbing skills and safety. Appropriate close toed shoes are required for this clinic.

  • Clinic Sampler - Does your camper struggle to make up their mind? If that is the case, the clinic sampler will be a perfect choice for the camper who enjoys a wide range of activities. Clinic Sampler visits a different clinic each day to get a taste of a wide variety of games, skills, and fun.

  • Drama & Dance - Does your daughter enjoy dance, drama and role playing? If so, this clinic is a great option for your girl campers who enjoy learning these skills.

  • Field Sports - Field Sports is a great choice for campers who enjoy playing various sports such as soccer, kickball, flag football, angle ball, wiffle ball, and volleyball. Campers will need to bring a shoe that is appropriate for running and playing.

  • Fishing - Our new fishing clinic is perfect for the camper who wants to learn how to fish or is an experienced fisherman. Campers will fish from our dock and on other locations on the property. Campers will learn how to bait a hook and how to properly remove a fish from a hook. We will practice the “catch and release” technique when fish are caught. If your camper is 15 years or older, please have them bring a valid fishing license with them to camp if they sign up for this clinic. Campers are welcome to bring their own fishing poles if they have one.

  • Frisbee Golf & Putt-Putt Golf - Campers will learn how to play our brand new 18 hole frisbee golf course in addition to our traditional course. Time will also be set aside to play on an awesome 9 hole putt-putt golf course. Tournaments and challenges await… lowest score wins!

  • Outdoorsman - This clinic is a great choice for the camper who loves being in the great outdoors. Campers will go on hikes over our camps entire 130 acre property, learn how to build a fire, learn how to canoe and kayak, learn how to fish, and other basic camping techniques.

  • Outdoor Fitness - If your camper enjoys exercising, running and being active, this brand new clinic will be the perfect choice for them. Focus will be placed on stretching, trail running, basic agility, and discussing nutrition. A water bottle and appropriate running shoes are required for this clinic. Vesper Point has numerous hiking trails on the property that campers will enjoy exploring.

  • Pavilion Sports - Campers will enjoy a wide range of pavilion sports such as: basketball, dodgeball, Gotcha, 4-square, etc. Appropriate close toed shoes are required for this clinic. This clinic will take place in our giant covered Pavilion which we call the “V-Dome.”

  • Surf N’ Ski - Campers will learn to do one (or more) of the following water sport skills: waterski, kneeboard, wake board, or wake surf. With Vesper Point being right on the Tennessee River, your camper will enjoy endless miles of the Tennessee River main channel where our ski instructors will teach the basic skills to properly and safely “Get Up!” This clinic does not include tubing or riding the banana boat (that will happen during BOAT camp and during cabin activity time). An additional fee of $30 is charged for this premium clinic.

  • Swim & Water Inflatables - Campers will enjoy swimming, blobbing, aqua tramping, jumping off the jump tower, and jumping on our rocket jr.

  • Kayak and Canoe Clinic - Campers will learn how to canoe, kayak, use a paddleboard, and play on our corcls.

  • River Kayaks - Has your camper ever wanted to learn how to properly use a river kayak with a skirt? We recently invested in new skirts to teach campers how to properly and safely use a river kayak. We will teach campers how to put on a kayak skirt, how to wet exit, and how to roll. Our river kayak instructors will supervise campers to ensure safety. All river kayaking is done on the Tennessee River (on the camp property) where there are no rapids.

Except for a few activities, socks and tennis shoes are required.
