FAQs

Most of your questions can be answered by going to Parent Information, but here are a few that are not covered there. Please contact us if you have any other questions or concerns.

Q. Can I come to multiple weeks of camp?

You may register to attend more than one session, (provided that you are age-appropriate for that session). Each session requires a separate application and $100.00 deposit. Those campers who register for two weeks of camp in a row will need to be picked up at the regular time on Saturday and dropped off again at the regular time on Sunday.

Q. How are cabins and cabin mates assigned?

Cabin assignments are made according to age and birthday, with consideration given to year in school. If you have ONE roommate request, please write it on the camper application in the space provided. It is our policy to do our best to honor MUTUAL requests from two campers wanting to room together, but the camp cannot promise or guarantee any such special request. Both campers must request one another to be considered. The final assignment decisions will be made by the Camp Director and the Assistant Camp Director. All placements are revealed when the campers arrive on Opening Day and we will not be able to accommodate any changes.

Q. Why can my child not bring candy or food to camp? Or, why can I not send candy or food goodies to my camper?

We desire to make camp an even playing field for all campers. It is nice to receive goodies from home, but this is not encouraged. Please remember that there are several other campers in the cabin with your child. It can sometimes be discouraging for those who do not receive a package. Cabin space is also very limited, so if you plan on sending a package, please keep it small. Food in the cabin invites bugs, and we try our best to keep those critters outside. Remember, we serve three good meals every day. We want your camper to enjoy these meals. If they are stuffed with candy, it is difficult to enjoy a good meal. Every camper will be allowed one trip daily to the Sugar Shack where they are allowed two items daily. We have found that camp morale stays high (or at least with fewer "ups and downs") when the amount of sugar intake is regulated a little better which also aids in the learning process. We appreciate your help and understanding in this policy.

Q. What if my child gets homesick?

Let us assure you that we take homesickness seriously, and are well equipped to handle it. Our staff is trained and know when to alert the Camp Leadership and Directors. After lots of experience, we've learned several things - by watching for early signs, homesickness is usually avoidable, once parents are out of sight, counselors and other campers come into a child's focus and the fun begins and that parents are usually more uneasy about leaving their children than children are in leaving their parents. If a problem persists, we will contact the parents.

Should you choose to remove your child from camp due to homesickness, please understand that you will not receive a refund. If you are concerned that your child may become homesick, please note that on your camper's application so that their counselor may be aware of this concern.

Q. What if my child is a picky eater?

Don't worry, Mom, we serve three nutritionally balanced meals a day. There is always plenty of fruit and drink available. Should your camper need it, we keep a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly handy for every meal. We typically will provide a salad bar at each lunch and supper meal in order to provide other options to campers.

Q. What Bible should my child bring to camp?

Let them bring the Bible they are comfortable using. If they do not have a favorite, we suggest the English Standard Version (ESV).
